Thomasville Furniture

Made purchase in May of last year and we are still waiting for defected chairs to our dining set to be replaced. Store has sent out 3 sets of chairs and all have been defected in some way. I've filed a complaint and made contact with the store with no recourse. Do not ever purchase from this store they are not standing behind their product and replacing the furniture is almost a life long process. The Customer Service Sucks and since the dining set is paid in full they could careless. Read the fine print and if I were you I would not purchase anything from this store. I filed a formal complaint with the BBB in my area!!!

Thomasville Furniture: Delivery ***

First, I think the delivery teams should be able to remove the old furniture items for you before delivering the new. Apparently they don't; or do they? This was just an uncomfortable experience. The delivery service called when both of our purchased items had finally arrived at their warehouse (after more than twelve weeks from date of purchase) and were ready to be delivered. We were planning to delay the delivery as we could not find an organization, like Salvation Army, et al, willing to come up the stairs to the second level of the townhouse and move the old sofa and loveseat down and take them. So, when I spoke with a rep at Thomasville, the ones that schedule the deliveries, I explained, whereupon she told me the delivery team will remove the old items before delivering the new sofa and chair. I questioned this because I was under the impression that they did not do this, but was reassured that this is something they do all the time, for example often you have elderly customers who cannot move the old items out and situations like that. So, for that reason, I went ahead and arranged for a delivery date. At delivery the delivery team was obviously in a rush and they commented that they were under extreme pressure to get to the next delivery location on time (adding to the problem of the old furniture removal of course which would take more time). They informed us that they were not supposed to move the old items. I told them I had been reassured that they were going to at least move them down to the garage to get them out of the way in order to put the new furniture in. Obviously there was a major lack of communication. One of the men even went back to the truck to check the paperwork to make sure there was no notation anywhere about the old piece removal. There was none. This both put them in a predicament and then left me as the one who was caught in the middle of that miscommunication, finding myself now in a position to insist on them removing the items – a very uncomfortable position to be in, again, caught in the middle of that situation.

Thomasville's quality furniture--NOT!

Thomasville Furniture - Thomasville's quality furniture--NOT!
Thomasville Furniture - Thomasville's quality furniture--NOT! - Image 2
Thomasville Furniture - Thomasville's quality furniture--NOT! - Image 3

After more than 30 years of marriage we were able to purchase Thomasville's Fredericksburg dining table and chairs. After about two-three years several of my 8 chair backs have developed multiple hairline cracks. I

e-mailed Spears' Furniture (Lubbock, TX) and attached photos of the chairs. Their customer rep came to the house and took pictures as well. She told me she would contact Thomasville, send them the pics and let me know what Thomasville would do.

Some time later I called the rep asking if they had contacted Thomasville. (Yes, I had to call them.) According to the rep Thomasville has a one year warranty. Neither Thomasville or the furniture store would do anything. Not even suggestions on what I should do to protect the chairs were suggested.

I did find some consumer information in my file saying that something called plasticizers are part of the furniture finish. They add them to the nitrocellulose lacquer. This provides flexibility which allows it to shrink and swell with temperature changes. If plasticizers are omitted, the finish can crack." I assume they forgot to add the plasticizer?! Or perhaps Thomasville is no longer the quality furniture it once was. Buyer Beware I would attach the photographs if I could.

Thomasville Furntiture delivery: Don't expect call ahead, they'll drive away if you're not there!

The Thomasaville rep explained that I would be given a three hour time window two days prior to the delivery date and asked me, "would you also like a one hour call-ahead prior to your delivery time?" And to that I answered of course, yes, because I wanted time to get home from work, time to move a vehicle out of the garage to facilitate the movement of the furniture. I was given a time frame for Tuesday of 9AM to 12PM. On that Tuesday, at approximately 10:00 I called to check the status, as I knew I was supposed to get a one hour call-ahead and it was getting close and I was still at work and I just wanted to make sure all was still on track. The lady said she would check with dispatch and then at approximately 10:10, she informed me that the truck was already enroute to my home and would arrive at 10:20 AM! My commute from work to home is at least 35 minutes (and that's with no traffic – fortunately this was 10:15). I asked about my call-ahead which obviously didn't happen, she had no reply. I just went ahead and said I'll try to make it by 10:30 they'll have to wait and arranged to have my wife be present hopefully not too long after they arrived. As soon as I arrived, of course I had to find a place to park to keep my driveway clear for them and then I had to get the keys for the other car so I could move it out of the garage and find a place down the street to park it. When I returned to begin to speak with them regarding the plan, they obviously were in a rush and stated they were under extreme pressure to get to the next delivery location on time. In fact, they said because I wasn't there when they arrived, they were just about to leave!! The delivery went horribly wrong and left us feeling abused.

@DA....Get informed before you make statements - your issue is with classic home brands, not Thomasville! You bought from a franchise that sells Thomasville .

The franchise is responsible for all repairs/replacements, NOT THOMASVILLE!

That's how it works! You should focus your attention to the owner of classic home brands or their president if it's a corporation.

Thomasville Furniture - Steer Clear!

Where do I start? We ordered 6 pieces of furniture for our living room.

About a week after the furniture was delivered, we noticed the top of the coffee table was cracking. A "specialist" came and determined that the table would need to be replaced. We were told we could get a new table in 4 weeks. Well 12 weeks later, and after many phone calls and emails, we finally got the replacement table.

In the meantime, we ordered draperies for our living room and were told that we should receive them in 8-10 weeks. Six weeks later we were told that the fabric was discontinued (yes..it took 6 weeks just for them to tell us that the fabric was discontinued). We picked new fabric and began the process again, receiving a promise that T'Ville would rush the order. Sixteen weeks later we are still writing threatening emails and making phone calls as to the status of our drapes.

A couple of weeks ago, they told us that they would put a rush on our order (didnt' they promise to rush the order from the start?). They recently told us it would be 2 weeks for the drapes to reach their store and another 2 weeks for the store to deliver them to us. Are you kidding me? After our ordeal you'd think they'd personally drive them to us the same day the store received them.

After yelling at them, they agreed to do this. Not once in this entire ordeal did we receive an unsolicted call from Thomasville to provide a status report and explain delays. They only communicated with us when we had to pester them.

This company has deplorable customer service; and we get the feeling they really don't care! Steer Clear!!

PAID IN FULL AND 5 MONTHS LATER, STILL NO FURNITURE

We purchased furniture in May and was informed that we would not have it until September. The sales person said, she has seen it come in less time but plan for first week of September. The store did not call us, we had to call them to be told it will be another 6-8 weeks. It is now 5 months later and we don't have our furniture. When we called we were told it will be at least another week as it is coming from OVERSEAS. No one at Thomasville is proactive, they have my money and I feel they really haven't tried to do any customer service. I can only hope to see our chair and nothing will be wrong. I SERIOUSLY doubt we will order from Thomasville again.

You are a *** for the boycott Thomasville BS. It is people like you who cost Americans their jobs.

Thomasville is still one of the best custom built furniture companies around. If you were so smart you would boycott Furniture Brands International(FBI) the company that owns Thomasville, not Thomasville itself. Thomasville has to go by what FBI tells them. FBI owns Broyhill, Drexel Heritage, Hickory Chair, Henredon, Lane, and Pearson just to name a few.

These are all big furniture brands that have to do what FBI tells them. You only boycotting Thomasville and not FBI only shows your ignorance. FBI is a big company that has put alot of Americans out of work so you can buy the cheaper *** made in other countries. You want cheaper, but high quality, well they don't go hand in hand.

You have to choose one or the other.

I bet you would consider one of the other brands that I listed not knowing that it is all about what FBI is telling them to do, not what the individual brand company is wanting to do. Inorance is bliss.

Thomasville; A shotty operation

My wife & I purchased furniture from Thomasville. When the furniure finally arrived it had scartches, a large dent and the table leg was wobbly. After 4 months and several phone calls to Thomasville I was contacted by a repair firm (Final Touch)hired by Thomasville. The repair guy did an outstanding job and the service was impeccable. I thought this nightmare was behind us. Nine months later I received notification that Thomasville never paid the repair firm and they were filing a small claims action that I would be involved in. After I made a phone call to the corporate office the repair firm got the money they deserved for their work. How can a company this large that charges so much for furniture act in such an irresponsible manner??? I encourage all consumers to stay away from Thomasville. It's not a reputable company all you will get is a headache.

How much you know about furniture is so funny. :grin Yes go buy some other brand, stay away from Thomasville.

BS is what I say on that. how about buying Broyhill, Drexel Heritage, Lane, Hickory Chair, Henredon, or Pearson. These are some of the biggest name in the furniture world, but guess what Furniture Brands International(FBI) owns them all just like they own Thomasville. Yes there is alot of things made in other countries that will have some not so great quality.

There are still alot of good furniture made right here in America. Just ask for custom made from Thomasville and it will be made here in America. Do not buy from second party stores, only buy from Thomasville direct. They will repair any problems that is from the manufacturing of the product, not problems cause by second party stores.

Buy from whatever company you want but FBI is the one who owns like 70% of the brands you buy. So don't boycott Thomasville for the problems associated through a second party store.

Thomasville Furniture: Buyer Beware! Run, don't walk

We've purchased several major pieces over the last year, so I think we know what we're talking about here. You should completely avoid Thomasville furniture stores and products altogether. But if you dare purchase from this company, be sure to use a credit card, so you can dispute the charges through your card company when they lie to you and *** over. Outright poor quality, poor management, very uncomfortable even scary delivery experiences, horrible and arrogant customer service, assurances & commitments clearly made and then broken, unanswered and unreturned phone calls, and just excuses, excuses and lies ... Believe it or not, our experiences have actually caused high stress, made my blood pressure soar, and have even caused severe strife in our marriage. Two replacements. Second replacement still unresolved after 8 months now. A third would-be replacement due to defects and damage was changed to repair, then back to replacement (which we waited, and waited, two months and got nothing but silence) only to be told it was now going to be a repair, only after I called to get the status. They will repair your item and leave you with a "restored" or "repaired" piece of furniture before replacing. That's like buying a second hand item, which is so, so unfortunate because this furniture is too expensive.

Thomasville & its *** furniture

Updated by user Feb 12, 2013

Maybe we should stick together and go after Thomasville and or Classic Home Brands. I bought a bedroom set from them in 2005 and did not have any problems with it, that's the reason I went back to them.

What would have happened to any us if we negated payments??

Their high paying lawyers would have been up our *** looking for payment and or suing us!!!PEOPLE NEED TO BE AWARE-- DO NOT BUY FROM THOMASVILLE AND OR CLASSIC HOME BRANDS, WHAT YOU PAY FOR ITS NOT WHAT YOU GET!!!!!!! THEIR PRODUCT IS CRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

Ordered leather furn back in 1/8/11 and received it on 2/26/11. I contacted cust svcs on 2/28/11 regarding the furn. The cushion on the chaise was shorter than the rest, the leather had blotches, and lines like a child had painted it. The furn was picked up for repair on the 6/25/11 and returned to me on 7/30. I refused delivery because the sewing on the chaise was extremely sloppy. It's funny how people say, "you get what you pay for", unfortunately not in this case. The independent owner will not do anything about it. He even threaten me that my furn would be sold at auction and also called me a liar.FYI--Paramus, NJ Store. DO NOT BUY FROM THOMASVILLE!!!!!

DO NOT BUY FROM THOMASVILLE - poorly made sectional; cushions are uneven, different sizes, and the material smells. Don't waste your money.

I am stuck with a screwed up couch and Thomasville claims they back their products - NOT.

Scam artists

I ordered a dining room set from Thomasville on 3/27. At that time I paid 1/2 down, and was promised a delivery time of four to six weeks. I received a call from them on 5/7 saying that the remaining payment was now due. SoI paid in full the next day, and assumed that the furniture was on its way. It's now 7/5, and all I get are excuses as to why my furniture hasn't been delivered. They've had my money for almost 4 months and don't seem concerned at all. I checked their BBB file - they have an F rating.

Purchased a mattress set at CHB home furniture-thomasville in North Olmsted OH.

Told it was made by Simmons for the CHB furntiure brand. Delivered with grase spots, a tear in the lining and not the same bed I looked at in the Store.

Had a Symbol mattress label. Just found out that Simmons makes the Thomasville brand but not CHB Deception by sales people. Won't take it back. Want a 25% restocking fee for dirty bed because it was put into a plastic bag with grease on the inside.

Stay away from this store.

Find a good mattress store and get a good choice. I feel *** for even buying it there.

So typical for Thomasville they are without doubt the worst furniture company ever - furniture is *** and customer service is even worse. GO TO ANOTHER STORE - Jacksonville FL is just horrible - we paid the price BIG TIME! Once they take your money they do not care - Rooms to Go and Havertys are AWESOME!

Leather sectional couch

I purchased a leather sectional couch from Thomasville. The day after I received the couch I noticed that the loveseat section was built very poorly. The leather under the arm was all puckered and the back section that connects to the arm of the loveseat had no padding in it. You could see the wood slat sticking out and pressing against the leather. There was also a piece of the piping around the cushion where the leather had a split in it. Now they take it out and want to fix it, I can't believe it!! I should be getting a new piece since this loveseat was not made right. But they insisted that their policy was to try and fix the problem instead of sending me a new one. I am also very unhappy with this company, I thought Thomasville was a high end store. I paid a lot of money for this couch and I am not happy at all. I am getting no where with the sales people and also customer service.

Thomasville in Mississauga

Beware of Thomasville in Missisauga. As a previous comment, there is no customer service at this store. Once they get your money, they will not get involved in any issues with your purchase. they refer you to customer service who only answer the phone during the payment promp on the phone line. They suggest you call head office, who put you through to payroll. Apparently there is a district manager that they won't tell you who it is, and customer service supervisor doesn't return your phone calls. Both the the manager and owner- are on a permanant vaction and won't return phone call, nor do the sales people I got a defective, overpriced chair, and no recourse- they say they will fix it- I am still waiting- no communication unless I call the payment line- Don't give your self the headache- go elsewhere- again I can't stress enough the quality does not reflect the price- stay away

Fraud Thomasville Furniture

I wish I had researched this store before making a purchase. The owner and his staff have no integrity. I spent $3505 at this store, promises were made, furniture altered and I now have a pile of junk on hand.. I purchased a dining set and when it was delivered the table and table base did not match. The sales person lied through her teeth to make the commission and when she got her money she left me high and dry. I asked for my money back and they told me I could have the money for the table but not for the other furniture which was all purchased as a set for my dining room. The manager didn't seem to care that I had worked hard and long to save money for this furniture. She even said the sales person had lied to her and told her I was happy with the furniture. She still has her job! They both do. Every time I walk into my dining room I want to vomit. I can't sell this furniture and I wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with it. Why are there so many thieves in this nation? Whose salary did I pay with this purchase never mind that it was stolen money. I am passing out flyers this week to everyone that walks into the store. I called the Better Business Bureau too.

Defective and company doesnt care

I purchased a Thomasville Vintage collection office set (glass front book shelf, lateral file, hutch and desk) through office depot. I spent several hours putting the furniture together. When I got to the desk I noticed that the part numbers were wrong and the arrows and directions were also facing the wrong way on one panel. After completely assembling the desk and all drawer I went to slide the drawer in and discovered that the drawer glides (which were preinstalled by thomasville) did not match -- the glides on the desk were smaller than the ones on the drawer and no amount of force would make them work together. I contacted the support # and was basically told that it happens all of the time and that they only design the furniture not manufacture it -- no apologies just excuses. They told me that they could ship me 4 new desk support panels and that I could disassemble the desk and install the new panels -- it would take 10-14 days. After further complaint they agreed to expedite them and I received them the next day --- before I went though the trouble of rebuilding everything I decided to make sure the drawers fit -- they don't --same size as the orignal glides that were wrong. I sent an email -- their response --return it to office depot. I have already invested hours in putting it together and would have to disassemble it to return to OD -- if they would even allow me to return it.. All in All I would stay away from this company -- I bought this furniture based on prior good experiences with the quality of Thomasville --- never again.

Thomasville in Mississauga, Ontario (Canada) does not care about its customers

We have had a terrible experience with Thomasville concerning the deliver of our sectional. One would expect a much better level of customer service from an organization that associates themselves and their products with the highest level of quality. Marian Gerus, the manager of the Mississauga store, was of no help in resolving our issue. In fact, she assured us that she would investigate our concerns and return our call. We never heard back from her. This Thomasville location (and perhaps others) is affiliated with Mobilia. Mobilia is responsible for Thomasville's product deliveries. The Mobilia customer service dispatch staff (Beth and Allan Vaz) were rude and apathetic; not at all interested in working with us to resolve this issue. The manager of Mobilia (for whom we left a message), never bothered to return our call. My advice - buy your furniture somewhere else! Thomasville and Mobilia don't seem to have the basics of customer service down at all.
